   7th February - Regarding Parking at Lewsey Pool 

Message from Active Luton

Customers are allowed to park in the disabled bay when they show a disabled parking badge.  The end bay is being converted into a parent and baby bay and is in the process of being marked so. Signs are being ordered to ask people not to park under the wall. To summarise anyone not showing a disabled parking badge is being asked to park alongside the park opposite Lewsey Pool. This is to ensure free and easy access for emergency services that may need to attend the pool.

   30th January – Splash Gala 2 Results – 23rd January 2010

Here are the provisional Splash results.  Well done, there were 98 Personal Bests. 

   30th January 2010 - British Gas Swimming Ticket

The Championships will take place over 6 days, from Monday 29th March to Saturday 3rd April 2010 at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, Sheffield.  Make sure your place is reserved to cheer on Britain’s best swimmers who will be battling it out for a place in the team bound for Delhi to take part in the Commonwealth Games in October 2010. Spectators who buy their tickets online between now and 22nd March will benefit from a discounted ticket price – at the event all tickets will be full price.  Click here to download an information pack which includes ticket prices, a schedule of events and travel and accommodation information.If you would like to book your discounted tickets on line please click here

Home Counties League  Round 1 – Wardown, Swimming & Leisure Centre, Bath Road, Luton

   12th December 2009 - Luton Sports Network £500 Grant to LCSC

Clive Robins (Chairman) and Brian Davidson presented a cheque for £500 to members of the LCSC committee on the 10th December 2009. 

Clive Robins said, “The Luton Sports Network have in their action plan funds to support  clubs to help to promote sport development and we have selected the Lewsey Centre Swimming Club as one of the clubs to receive £500”.

Jane Bowen (head coach) said, “This is excellent news for our club and our thanks go to Luton Sports Network for this fantastic grant of £500″.

   6th December 2009 - Leighton Buzzard C Novice Gala Results – 5th December 2009

Congratulations to all swimmers in the Leighton Buzzard Gala who achieved 11 1st places (5 with speeding tickets!) and 27 personal bests.  Joe Donohue set a new club record for 25m Butterfly.  Swimmer of the night goes to Aisha Karouai, the youngest member of the team who had 3 first places and 3 personal bests.

   21st November 2009 - Splash Gala Results – 21st November 2009

Here are the provisional Splash results.  Well done, there were 89 Personal Bests.  Also two County times – Peter Skalecki and Danielle Yates. 

County qualifiers for the club so far are:   Martina Skalecki, Danielle Yates, Jessica Tanseli, Kerenza Killingbeck, Rebekah Cahill, Peter Skalecki, and Kieran Hagger.

Judge Level 1 Information

This is the first level of British qualification. This will encompass the role and duties of a Timekeeper, Chief Timekeeper and Inspector of Turns. The minimum age to commence training is 15 years. Candidates may undertake some instruction and will be required to complete a course workbook, following which a practical assessment will be undertaken. There is no formal theory examination however, during the practical assessment candidates will be required to answer oral questions. Upon qualification candidates will be attributed with the qualification Judge level 1 on the British Swimming Database and will be encouraged to become a Licensed Official.

Tuesday 19^th January,  Tuesday 26^th January and Tuesday 2^nd February 2010 evenings at Flitwick Village.

Well done to Lauren Swinnerton and Natalie Jones who have successfully passed their ASA Level 1 Coaching Course and also passing their GCSEs.  Clever girls !!

Also, well done to Joanne Makin and Simon Day who successfully passed their A Levels and will be leaving shortly to go to Birmingham to take Biological Sciences and Architecture.  Good luck and keep up the swimming !!
